Strata Complex Solar Bollard Installation

Client Brief

SLD was approached by PWZ Realty, who manage a strata complex in need of illumination throughout the common walkway areas. The main walkway is wedged between the backyards of several residences, stopping it from receiving any streetlighting, resulting in it being extremely dark at night.

Assessment

Through assessment of the site using aerial imagery, some challenges immediately presented themselves that needed to be considered. Several of the areas the client wanted to illuminate were stairways that were wedged between buildings, stopping adequate sun light from reaching the area throughout the day. Additionally, as the client specifically wanted to use bollard lighting, we couldn’t easily mount lights higher than the surrounding fences and structures.

Outcome

Considering the challenges that some of the install locations presented, we suggested our Orion Premium Solar Bollards with motion sensors, as they operate at 30% until motion is detected. These are an excellent choice for areas that may not receive full sun all day, as the 30% motion sensor ensures a much greater battery autonomy than the standard 100% output models. Our Brisbane team installed these in garden beds using our FX-1 high security rag bolt cages.
