Sydney Port Solar Enhanced Road Signs

Client Brief

DP World Logistics Sydney contacted SLD with an aim to update their traffic management plan. Due to the size of the work area, and the high volume of heavy vehicle traffic entering the site every day, there is significant risk of traffic related incidents occurring. This can be seen especially at T-intersections on site, which typically leave drivers unable to any traffic approaching from the right or left directions until getting to the cross point of the road. DP World claimed that some drivers would continue through these intersections without slowing, even though they were marked stop sign areas.

Assessment

After discussions with the client and assessment of the site, we determined that increasing the visibility of the stop sign messaging would minimise risk and ensure on site road rules, in the specific locations the goods are installed, are understood.

Outcome

We provided our Solar Enhanced Stop Sign system, which operates 24 hours a day. Due to the effectiveness of the system, DP World Sydney have ordered a total of 12 of these systems.
