Client Brief

Coonamble Shire Council started looking into potential lighting options for a park pathway that is frequently used by dog walkers and residents in the late afternoon and early morning. Considering that large parts of the pathway had no access to lighting, the council wanted to ensure the pathway was illuminated to a level that allowed residents to use the path at all hours.

Assessment

After several discussions with council representatives, two main requirements were dictated. One, any proposed light fitting would need to operate in a way that accommodated the dog walkers that use the path in the late afternoon and early morning. Two, the lights fittings needed to be high security, as there was a concern for potential vandalism.

Outcome

After assessing the site using aerial imagery and taking into consideration the requirements of council, SLD provided our Atlas 40w Overhead Solar Light fitted with custom build vandal resistant cages. The Atlas 60w has several smart preprogrammed modes, offering clients simple flexibility on how their lights can operate. Coonamble Shire Council were happy with this light fitting, as one of the modes operated as, 5 hours 100% output then 25% – 100% PIR activated, then 2 hours before dawn, mode changes to a constant 70% output until dawn. This mode fitted their requirement perfectly, as the times with the highest foot traffic will have the highest lighting output. Furthermore, our vandal resistant cages were designed from high strength 316 grade stainless steel mesh, ensuring they’re equally resistant from vandals, and the elements.

Coonamble Shire Council was so pleased with the outcome of the first order, they ordered the same lights again to extend the lighting footprint across the park, with an intention to extend it even further in the future. SLD Couldn’t be more pleased that Coonamble Shire Council is happy with the outcome, as seen in the testimonial and local newspaper article below.

“We are super happy with these lights!!!  These pics are taken the night of their installation, and they aren’t even fully charged!! We have chosen the green setting (mode 2) and are extremely impressed!! We are so excited to get the rest of them up and finally give some light to what is commonly, an unlit extremely dark area.  As you can see by my pics, this lighting is the only source along this pathway and has lit it up amazingly!!!”

Thank you for your product!!!” Rachell Foodey, Project Coordinator
